Arabic Reading Passport (Throughout the Year)

 

Overview

A dynamic program designed for children aged 6 to 15. This initiative aims to ignite the passion for reading and establish lasting reading habits.

Why Arabic?

As the official language of the Kingdom of Bahrain, plays a pivotal role in shaping our national and cultural identity. Embracing Arabic not only strengthens our connection to our rich heritage but also fosters a profound sense of belonging among the younger generation. Promoting its use aligns with our commitment to preserving cultural traditions and enhancing community cohesion.

Program Highlights:

Curated Book Selection: Diverse ranges of age-appropriate books is provided to cater various interests and reading levels.

Reading Passport Booklet: Participants receive a Passport booklet to record their reading progress. Each completed Passport earns a stamp, motivating continuous engagement.

Incentives and Recognition: Accumulated stamps lead to exciting prizes, certificates, and awards, celebrating each child's dedication and achievements in reading.

Terms and Conditions 

Follow the Children's Library Instagram account:  (Childrenlibrary.bh).

Reading Passport Validity: One year from the date of (issue date).

Limited Number: Each reader is allowed one reading passport per month (no more than 12 reading passports per year).

Reading Location: Inside the library hall or outside via borrowing.

Readers' classification: According to age groups, into three levels: 6-8 years, 9-12 years, and 13-15 years.

Book classification: Divided into three reading levels (Beginner Reading Level, Intermediate Reading Level, and Advanced Reading Level).


Prizes:

• A child will receive a prize after completing the Reading Passport (reading 20 books).

• A participant who completes three or more Reading Passports (reading 60 books) during the year of Passport issuance will be nominated for the (Distinguished Beneficiary List).

• The top five nominated beneficiaries will be honored and given a certificate and trophy.

• The Distinguished Beneficiary is honored annually in January.


Steps to complete the Reading Passport:

1. The child must fill out the book information.

2. Read the entire book.

3. Answer the written questions in the passport correctly and clearly.

4. Make an appointment with a librarian, by direct call or WhatsApp (17366561), or email (CL@icc.gov.bh).

5. Arrive in person with the passport, and pass an oral interview with the librarian about the book he/she read.

6. Upon passing the interview, the librarian will stamp and sign the page in the passport.

7. If the child is unable to answer the oral questions, he/she will be given another opportunity to read the book and reschedule his/ her appointment.

       8. Repeat the previous steps until all pages in the reading passport is fully stamped within its validity period.
